February 2002 - Finish the story...

'The man in the Mac crosses the road and stumbles as he reaches the far kerb.'

March 2002 - Two people arranging a date written from the other sexes point of view.

April 2002 - Write a character sketch of the man in the picture.


May 2002 - Develop a story using another person's character sketch based around the scenario that they lose their mobile phone at the airport.

June 2002 - Develop one of the scenarios a step further and introduce another character.

July 2002 - Write a story based around the sea which could include a sex scene, joke and/or a surprise.

August 2002 - Bring a recent project to the next meeting for discussion and constructive criticism.

September 2002 - Describe a scene in a pub using all your senses.

October 2002 - Edit and revise scene in pub and add something that makes everyone turn and stare.

November 2002 - Critique sample of novels in progress.

December 2002 - Collate all previous assignments for our '2002 Yearbook'. Copies available by request.

January 2003 - Conversation between three characters using a doctor/patient scenario.

February 2003 - Poem about a fairground.

March 2003 - A publisher's blurb to promote someone in the group.

April 2003 - Create a character who gets on a bus travelling from London Victoria to Brighton on the 30th April.

May 2003 - Develop the character further and make them have a conversation with someone else's character on the bus. The bus is stuck in a traffic jam on the M25 and it is raining.

June 2003 - Continue scenario until bus arrives at Brighton.

July 2003 - Develop own individual characters stories going their separate ways in Brighton for the next 24 hours.

August 2003 - Continue story with the characters interacting in small groups up to Sunday midnight.

September 2003 - Continue with the Brighton scenario.

October 2003 - Work on chronology of Brighton novel.

November 2003 - Conclude the Brighton novel. (Our first joint project completed)

December 2003 - Collate all previous assignments for our '2003 Yearbook'. Copies available by request.

January 2004 - Write a haiku and/or a tanka and a writing priority plan

February 2004 - Write 500 words on a policeman in an alley with a litter picking stick in third person, first person and dialogue.

March 2004 - Write a monologue about a scam.

April 2004 - 500 words about quiz night at the pub.

May 2004 - May 2005 - Hospital Saga. (Another complete joint novel)

June 2005 -
Create a new character for new project.

July 2005 -
Using the character from last month's assignment write about a day in their life. The day is Wednesday.

August 2005 -
The day is now Thursday. Continue with your character for another 24 hours.

September 2005 - Friday.

October 2005 - Saturday.

November 2005 - Sunday.

December 2005 - Monday. Start getting your characters to the Northern Line tube station.

January 2006 - Tuesday. Explosion on tube train

February 2006 - Critique of own novels in progress and plan a writing competition for the Thatcham Festival.

March 2006 - Critique each others samples from novels and finalise details for writing competition.

April 2006 - Open joint short story, writing approximately 300 words each in a round, following the story on from what has been written before.

May 2006 - Joint short story, writing approximately 300 words each in a round, following the story on from what has been written before. Each person has been given a specified genre to write in:
